Pollos and a Birthday: The Gift of Presence
¡Gloria a Dios! What an incredible dream it is to be in Ecuador! And yet, it is all reality. I wake up everyday and get to serve people that live in this riches of the Amazon jungle.
Today is the first day where I am finally able to relax and get some things done. Two weeks ago, we bought some chickens. We cleaned out an area and prepared their chicken coop. We are hoping to get some eggs soon.
We were able to visit with Salvador and his grand-daughter at their house in the jungle. It was an incredible experience. We left in a canoe, Matt and I rowed used long poles. We rode down the Napo River and then hiked in the jungle for about ten minutes. We brought them the necessary food items. It was so blessed. Watch the video we made:

This past week, I went with the girls to Quito to help get them settled in their language school. Every morning we were able to go to mass. On the morning of my birthday, a poor lady, Maria, and her cute little baby, Graciela, were sitting at the door of the church. Candice and I talked with her, and prayed with her, offering all of God’s love that we could. She was praising the Lord. We were able to buy her some breakfast. As we left, she was thanking the Lord and she kissed our hands. What a birthday gift!
We visited Lucho Francisco and his wife, Marianna. Please pray for them. They are getting older and continue to have more medical problems and pains. They are so strong in their faith, and they always welcome us with open arms. Truly, they are like my grandparents.
Matt and I were so blessed to be God-Fathers for Justin, a thirteen year old boy, who was baptized on Saturday. Please pray that the Lord will strengthen him in his journey of faith.
We continue to work around the mission home. Our yuca is beginning to be ready. We actually pulled a yuca plant out of the ground the other day, and had fresh fried yuca… Noah added a little of Tony Chachere’s. Epic! We are doing so well. I pray that the Lord protects each of you and that you come to grow deeper in His love. Please continue to pray for us and all of the work that God wants to do this year in Ahuano and Misahualli. Pray that we may align ourselves with His will, always keeping our gaze on Him.
Give them heaven! – Ryan
