For as long as I can remember, God has been inviting me to leave the familiarity of my parish and serve His children beyond my comfort zone. I have been a faithful parishioner at St. Joachim’s in Madera, CA where I taught as a catechist in the First Holy Communion and Confirmation program. I also was involved as a youth leader and a member of the Knights of Columbus. I was very happy to serve the Lord in any way possible, but He invited me to do what I thought was impossible.
He called me to go further out and serve the poor. I served in overseas missions in Mexico and Asia and in doing that, I was confronted with my own poverty. I felt that I fulfilled what He asked of me. I returned home to finish school and earned my associate’s degree in business, hoping to financially help others, but those were not His plans for me. God asked me to give everything and meet His children in the flesh. He wanted me to be physically present by dedicating my life as an overseas missionary. He called me to be so poor that all I could give is Jesus Christ and all I can get in return is Him in my brothers and sisters. My purpose in life is this and I am done stalling, I am all in.
