Braxton Callen
For the past three years, Braxton has worked for FOCUS as a Catholic missionary and has absolutely loved it. He has fallen in love with the Gospel message and the freedom that comes from accepting it. The Lord has become his everything and He continues to take him on the craziest adventures I could ever imagine. This past Thanksgiving break, Braxton and his mother attended an FMC mission trip in Allende, Mexico. While there, he saw a holiness and a freedom in poverty, specifically through the FMC missionaries. JPII has said before, “Live in a way that makes people ask why.” After spending a week with these missionaries, he knew they were living out the Gospel in its fullest form. After this trip, he was praying through the book of Acts, and continued to notice that the disciples sold everything and followed Jesus. Braxton asked Jesus, “What do you want from me?” To which he responded, “Everything.”
“I have felt His call to be poor and to be a saint,” says Braxton. “After talking it through with my spiritual director, I know very clearly that the Lord has asked me to be more radical for him and apply for FMC. Jesus Christ has transformed my life to the point where I am addicted to Him. I must follow him wherever He calls me. I love him dearly, and I trust He has something in store for me that I could have never drawn up on my own. In short, I am excited to be serving with FMC to become a saint and set the world on fire for Jesus Christ!”
