Mallory Champa
Hi! I am Mallory Champa, and I was called to foreign missions and Family Missions Company in the Spring of 2020. With the intent of leaving for the foreign field immediately, the Lord revealed other plans. Shortly after quitting my job as a high school theology teacher in Denver and “selling all,” my Intake training was delayed a year due to the Covid pandemic. After a time of grief and frustration, I began to notice the Lord’s hand in this shift of events. With a year to focus on my relationship with Him, He began a deep work of healing in my own heart—healing I wasn’t even aware that I needed.
After serving a year in Peru in 2022 with Team Maria Magdalena (alongside Karen Del Castillo and Sarah Ourso), I knew the Lord had called me specifically to use my own story of brokenness and redemption in Christ to meet the broken hearts of women in my small pueblo. I did not realize how wounded my heart was until I truly began to develop a deep, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ due to the formation I received and the community at Family Missions Company.
It became clear to me that the Lord called me to Family Missions Company to first heal me, then spread that testimony to others. Jesus revealed to me that I did not need to look any further than Himself to be completely healed and filled by His saving and merciful love. He restored my identity in HIM!
I needed this community of radical believers at FMC to allow my heart to be safe and eventually transformed. Similarly, Santa Maria Magdalena’s Home is a place where women can come and regain their worth in dignity in Jesus Christ THROUGH the encounter and love of our community and the Sacraments.
I am humbled and blessed by my own story, Jesus’ incredible merciful love, and the very personal call to spread this message to the women we serve at Santa Maria Magdalena’s Home.
