SERVE
Dearest Kingdom Builders,
“The harvest is great, laborers are few. Therefore, beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.” – Luke 10:2
Recently, we gathered for a community call with missionaries on the field all over the world, and a common theme came up: we sure could use more missionaries! Whether to reach a remote village several days’ drive from where our missionaries live, or feed dozens of hungry children daily, or shelter battered women and children, or bring the sacraments into the jungle on a motorcycle—our missionaries are seeking hungry hearts on the peripheries. They can’t do it alone.
For the past few years, and particularly since COVID-19 hit in 2020, FMC and other mission organizations have been struggling to attract new missionaries. It’s a scary, unstable world out there, and there are many logical reasons not to go.
And yet, Jesus said, “Go into the whole world, and proclaim the good news!” – Mark 16:15
Our founders, Frank and Genie Summers, used to say, “Jesus said it, I believe it, that settles it.”
There are so many eternal reasons to go forth. In times of great need and instability, the harvest is often even greater. Hearts are more open to the saving love of Jesus when their needs are pressing. We see this truth in the searching questions of refugees our missionaries encounter, in the smiling faces of people in remote parts of the Amazon when we arrive to bring them the Gospel.
There is more need than ever for missionary saints, burning with love for Jesus. Pray for more missionary vocations. Pray, and ask, is Jesus calling you to go?
Thank you for making God’s mission in FMC possible,
Kevin & Sarah Granger

The Gift of True Friendship
Erika de Guia, Philippines
Every human heart desires to be fully known and loved. At the core, that is why I became a missionary. My mission is to help people come to find what they are searching for. In truth, what their heart so desperately longs for is not a “what,” but rather, a “who:” Jesus Christ.
After one and a half months of serving in the Philippines, I found myself at the foot of Jesus’ cross begging Him for a friend. In a country as warm and friendly as the Philippines, it is very easy to meet people. However, when trying to form a deep friendship with someone when you do not speak the same language, it quickly hits a wall. As the excitement of moving to my mission post was fading, the inability to make deep friendships accentuated the feeling of loneliness that began to creep in. My heart was aching to be known and loved and to know and love someone else.
One Saturday, I got on my bike and rode it to the church to be with Jesus and bare my aching heart to him. After crying and praying in the church, I walked to the nearby markets and met Ate Jessa…
