Marcos & Jessica Cisneros
Joaquin Miguel, Miriam Salomé, Montserrat Isabel, and Juan Pablo
In 2010 Marcos, while working in California, experienced a deep conversion to follow Christ more closely with his life. Throughout his conversion and through prayer he felt a call and discerned to serve as a Foreign Catholic Missionary. After discerning and accepting that call, he spent 3 years with the Salesian Religious Order in Bolivia, before he felt called back to the states ending up taking a job in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2012 Jessica, while working as a teacher in Wisconsin, experienced a deeper conversion followed by a persistent call to spread the Gospel and serve the poor as a Foreign Missionary. She responded to that call through discerning and serving with the Salesian Religious Order as well, but in Mexico. After her time in Mexico she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she had taken a job as a teacher.
Being that their jobs were across the street from one another, Marcos and Jessica were so grateful to be introduced by a mutual friend at their new Parish who knew they had a shared experience of missions with the Salesians.
After a couple years of friendship, in 2016 Marcos and Jessica began courting, and were married in February of 2017! After marriage, they spent several months discerning the next step God had for them as a couple. They felt called to serve Christ in the Church in some way. They received an invitation to serve as a Missionary Family and ended up moving to the least likely place they were looking: Appleton, Wisconsin. In Appleton they served as a missionary family at a mostly Hispanic Parish in need of support in the areas of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Family Life Ministry. How wonderful it is to respond to the invitations of the Lord, you never know where He will take you, and how generously He will care for you!
For the first 4 and ½ years of their time in Appleton they were richly blessed through their experience in ministry learning from and working with lots of wonderful and welcoming families at the Parish. During that time, they were also blessed to begin the foundations of married and family life together, and receive three beautiful children from God.
In Fall 2020, feeling a call again to serve the poor and share the Gospel “to the ends of the Earth” with their family, the Cisneros began discerning several avenues to pursue this call. After multiple people and situations suggesting them to pursue FMC as a possible avenue, Jessie, Marcos, and the kids went to a Come & See with FMC in April 2021.
A month after their Come and See, it became clear to them that Family Missions Company was the avenue the Lord was calling them to walk down. They felt that it was the place that would help to fulfill their desire to continue to be formed, go deeper with the Lord, and prepare their family to become Missionaries in the Foreign Field together.
The Cisneros Family is so excited to begin this formational journey together with FMC, and see how the Lord is leading them to grow in love together as a family, and with Jesus to see how He wants to use them to share the Gospel to the ends of the Earth.
