Anna
Anna was born in Michigan and lived there until she was ten years old. Then her family “went to Nineveh,” as her father put it at their first mission appeal at the local parish. This was a big, brave step towards following God’s calling. Anna has given, and continues to give, her blood, sweat, and tears for others, not just in mission posts but in places that have become home.
God called Anna to missions from a young age, and she has kept this missionary heart throughout her whole life. Even when it was hard to know if God wanted her to go to college or continue in missions after high school, she maintained her missionary zeal. During the two years of mission work as an adult, God showed her that she could trust Him to continue in this work not only as a young adult but for life. She believes God will lead her to exactly the people He is calling her to, wherever she may be. Also, a love for Christ only leads to more love for others and the full pouring out of oneself.
Anna‘s life as a missionary has taken her overseas many times, but what has impacted her more than anything has been reflecting on God’s intentionality in the small, but beautiful moments and in our humanity. Matthew 8:1 starts by saying, “When Jesus came down from the mountain,” reminding us that Jesus was human. He holds our hands and guides us each step of the way.
Anna has always had an ardent passion for science and has followed God’s calling to study medicine in Costa Rica. She knows God will do big things when she surrenders herself to Him every single day. God’s constant call leads her, with His heart in hers, to go to the ends of the earth and to be Jesus’ hands and feet as a missionary doctor.
