Gary & Macy Paschall
Macy and Gary Paschall were married at the end of November 2024, and their first year of marriage has been nothing short of an adventure! The first five months of 2025 they served in Kenya as part of a fellowship program for international medicine that Macy was in. This was the first country they got to serve in together. Prior to marriage, they felt the call to the mission field in different ways.
While they were dating, they often discussed becoming foreign missionaries, a call on Macy’s life for some time. Gary had quite a bit of college debt, and he knew he couldn’t go overseas with that amount of debt. He remembers saying to the Lord, “if you want me to be a missionary, I can’t be in debt. So please forgive my loans”. A few months later, all of Gary’s student loans were forgiven. Praise be to God! This was probably the biggest confirmation for Gary actualizing his thoughts on becoming a missionary. Gary’s first encounters with foreign missionaries were through the two religious sisters from Zimbabwe serving at his parish in West Virginia where he had been living. Their humility, love for the Lord and His people, and willingness to leave their home country to help spread the Gospel really had an impact on Gary. During the summer of 2024, Gary had the opportunity to travel to Zimbabwe with one of the sisters. This trip fanned into flame the desire to become a foreign missionary.
Macy has had a strong desire to help the less fortunate for as long as she can remember. Looking back on her childhood, she recalls times in church where she would become overwhelmed by scripture and songs that talked about giving up everything to follow Christ. Then as an undergraduate student with the hope and desire to become a physician, she had a profound encounter with the Lord while on a short-term trip to Haiti. She recalls standing in front of an empty building that was intended to be a hospital, but not functional due to a lack of medical personnel, and asking the Lord why He would allow something like that to happen. It just didn’t make sense that God would allow for the means to be provided for a building to serve a much needed purpose, yet not provide individuals to serve. Macy clearly heard the Lord in the depths of her heart say to her that He was preparing her to be a physician, a physician that He was calling into mission work. Macy’s life was forever changed that day, and from that moment on, she has been working towards being a foreign missionary where she can use her gifts as a doctor to truly serve “the least of these”. After more than a decade of preparing, the Lord has opened the door to full-time foreign missions.
Now that they are a part of FMC, Gary and Macy look forward to sharing the love of Christ that they have received with people all over the world. Thank you Lord, for the gift of your love. And for calling us to go and share this love with others. What a joy and an honor it is to do so.
