Gerry and Mel Martins are originally from Bombay. They met while studying at St. Xavier’s College where they were both invited to be part of a revived Catholic youth group. Gerry is a professional photographer and studied in Massachusetts, USA. Mel is a trained Montessori pre-primary educator and taught for over 12 years. On a family getaway in April 2014, through a “God-incidence” they met the relatives of another missionary and heard about FMC.

Since saying “yes” to the Lord they have experienced numerous graces and miracles, exciting adventures and powerful blessings through the intercession of the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph! They completed Intake in 2015, and served initially in Malaybalay, The Philippines. After that they were in Abbeville, Louisiana and Reedsville, Wisconsin. They have seven children: Elijah, Ethan, Elliana, Evan, Emmaus, Estelle and Edmund.

Since June 2020, they have been serving in the missionary Diocese of Savannah, Georgia alongside the Alleluia Community in the city of Augusta. Some of their ministries include the Encounter School of Ministry – Augusta Campus, evangelization using Alpha as well as The Chosen series, serving the poor through local outreach, and also facilitating supernatural ministry training programs, wherever the Holy Spirit leads them. In the summer of 2025, their family plans to move to the Archdiocese of Atlanta specifically to work among the many immigrant and refugee groups in the city of Atlanta.
