Your support is vital to this work. FMC missionary Genevieve Vehige shares why:
“FMC helped me realize that a missionary vocation was possible. I didn’t know that even someone like me, who didn’t have a theology background or ministry experience, who only had a powerful encounter with the Lord, that even I could be called to become a missionary and share the Gospel. I wanted other people like me, who were living like I was, to know about Jesus and how good He is and how much joy he brings!
“FMC introduced me to Jesus in a real way through the missionaries serving the poor with joy. And helped hear the Lord calling me out of my life of sin. And then when I joined Intake, I was surrounded by people who were so faithful and so joyful. I had never experienced anything like that before. FMC wasn’t just a doorway to mission life, but also provided me with a community to join that nurtured my missionary calling.
“I remember being in the Philippines, living and working there, and the immense poverty I saw and the crazy amount of need. It was important for me to be free to step into that. It was vital that I was able to live in freedom, and I could because I did have the office staff working on things like taking care of my donations. It allowed me to be present to the needs of people who have so little that it’s hard to even imagine from an American context.
“The work in the office can seem less exciting, but it really pushes the missionaries in the field forward and enables their work. So many people and situations were vying for my attention, and I had more of it to give because of FMC’s staff.”
