A Blessed Mission Trip

Recently, Intake 2024 (our family, the Acosta family, Leeann, Madelyn, and Faith) was given a pretty large task: to LEAD an entire short-term mission trip for a youth group from Boston! WOW!!! It was such a blessing!

After many hours of flight delays, they finally arrived at Our Lady of the Bayou Retreat House on a Monday morning in Abbeville, Louisiana. The week was spent participating in service projects that included visiting a nursing home, painting at the Stillwater Retreat Center, and working and visiting with those at the Christian Service Center.

In the afternoons, our Intake led the teens through some formation on encountering Jesus through prayer, the sacraments, the poor, and in the community. One of their chaperones was an amazing and well-formed young priest, Fr. Dave! We were blessed to have Mass every day, an evening of adoration with praise and worship, and the opportunity for confession! Most other evenings were spent around a bonfire, playing board games, and making ice cream sundaes!

They are an impressive group of teens! Please pray for the 11 teens as they navigate their way through the high school years, and especially pray for their discernment moving forward—whether that be into the foreign mission field, college life, or consecrated life! We look forward to many more of these kinds of encounters, keeping in contact with them, and praying that we may even gain some new missionary vocations through joining FMC!
