John & Penny Geerling
John and Penny left their home in Indiana to become missionaries with FMC in the Fall of 2015 when their three daughters, Mary, Catherine, and Teresa, were seven years old. The Geerling family has served in Costa Rica since January of 2016. They live in a remote town, Coopevega, which is not far from the Nicaraguan border. As a result, they not only serve native Costa Ricans but also many migrants from Nicaragua. In addition to the town of Coopevega, the Geerlings minister in more than 10 other surrounding communities, serving the poor and sharing the Good News. They have a passion for bringing others into a relationship with Jesus and empowering them with the Sacraments through a Bible study, catechesis of adults and teens, Holy Hours, Liturgies of the Word with Holy Communion, and one-on-one evangelization.
