Rich In Community
While missions comprises much of our life in Family Missions Company, the context from which it emerges is the rich life of community we are blessed to share. Our family recently had the opportunity to witness this gift of community at work during the wedding of our close friends, Thomas and Genevieve Vehige. Having both served with FMC for five years, Thomas and Genevieve have a deep trust in the Lord’s providence in their life and are close to many missionaries around the world. As they prepared for their wedding, they entrusted each tiny detail to the hands of the Father and knew that He would provide.
The Lord did indeed provide! And in many ways, through their larger FMC community. In part because of Thomas and Genevieve’s humility and openness, and in part because this community is truly a family, individuals came forward and contributed through their own personal gifts. Our family had the privilege of arranging the bridal bouquets and, as these were coming together, I looked around the Big House as missionaries were baking the wedding cake, preparing the rehearsal and reception meals, practicing music, and arranging tables for the rehearsal dinner. In other parts of the campus, missionaries were preparing set lists to DJ for the wedding dance and arranging donated table centerpieces. It was inspiring and encouraging to experience our community working together in this way to bless Thomas and Genevieve and to offer their unique gifts to the service of the community and the Kingdom of God.
“No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.” – 1 John 4:12
