Seek His Face
Our dear co-founder Frank Summer would often write notes of encouragement to FMC missionaries around the world. This is from a letter he wrote on July 22, 2008.
Brothers and Sisters,
Here at Big Woods Mission we have been busy. We just finished Faith Camp (150 youth), and we mailed out SERVE to 6,500 addresses!
With so much always happening, I hope we are always remembering to pray for one another constantly.
The most important thing is that each of us has a personal quiet time of prayer with Bible reading each day. Don’t miss even one day. Don’t interrupt your mission [teammates] when they are having their prayer times. You can’t bear witness to Jesus unless you know Him as a friend, and talk with Him and hear Him talking with you. Seek His face in your prayer. Hand Him all your cares and concerns because He cares for you.
Discern what you believe the Lord wants to do in the place you’re in, in the lives of the people to whom He has sent you; and labor in prayer for God to do those things. Pray until the mountains actually do move!
Always make time for your prayer together as a mission team. Make that common prayer a focal point of your mission life.
Spend regular time in study – study the Bible, the Catechism, the Vatican documents and select special books for spiritual reading.
Keep [the community] posted on what your prayer needs are!
I love each of you and wish I was with you physically.
In Jesus’ Love,
Frank
