My Kidney Transplant Story
“For I know the plans I have for you; declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
I was diagnosed with acute chronic kidney disease (CKD) on July 6, 2022. When I found out that my kidney wasn’t working anymore and that this was a life-threatening disease, I had so many questions. I asked God, “Why is this happening to me?” We just lost our son on July 30, 2020, from leukemia and now I am suffering with this illness.
I was struggling emotionally and physically. I was also facing spiritual battle and worried for my family if I couldn’t make it. During my prayer time, I was reading the book of Job.
Job was a righteous, God-fearing man experiencing severe trials and afflictions. He lost all of his property, his children died, and he suffered great physical agony. I know that my faith has been tested too. I gave my life to Jesus and followed Him, and I know that the devil is not pleased.
“Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.” – 1 Peter 1:7
I was on dialysis for five months. Those five long months were full of challenges for me and for my family. In the darkest times of my life, God has shown me His great love and compassion. My younger brother decided to give one of his kidneys to me. I am so blessed to have a brother with a generous heart.
I started writing letters and asking our friends and benefactors to help us raise money for my kidney transplant. I received so much love and support from my FMC family and friends from all over the world!
I received my kidney transplant surgery on December 20, 2022. After a month, I faced many complications including an emergency surgery. Yet, my wife and I never lost hope in Jesus.
When I was rushed into the hospital, she prayed to the Lord, “Whatever are Your plans, Lord, I will put my trust in You.” We know that there are so many other people who have been praying for me too!
After all the challenges and trials that I’ve been through, Jesus never left my side. I recovered from the surgery, and I celebrated my first kidney transplant anniversary on December 20, 2023!
I want to encourage you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, that whatever you are facing right now, as some of you may be experiencing trials, hardships, and doubts, and you can’t feel His presence, just keep asking, just keep trusting Him. I know that the waves and storms in life are huge, but remember that Jesus walks on waves in storms. He is with us in the midst of our sufferings, and those who put their trust in Him will be saved!
“Not only so, but we also glorify in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God‘s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:3-5
All glory and praise in Jesus’ name, amen!
