Meet Intake 2022, part 2
Meet the families of Intake 2022! They are currently in training at our home base in Louisiana. They will be commissioned during Mass on December 10 and will travel to their mission posts in early 2023. Please pray for them!
Tim and Rachel
from Augusta, Georgia
We are Timothy and Rachel! Our children are Evangeline (11), Annabel (9), Homer (7), Ophelia (5), Magdalena (4), Virgil (2), and Jean-Baptiste (5 months).
We received our call after the tumultuous year of 2020. Missions had been on our hearts for some time and we could head Him very clearly telling us, “Go, now is the time!” It was only several months later that the Lord revealed that He was giving us His heart for the broken and wounded and the desire to bring His healing to the world.
What about the missionary vocation excites you the most?
We are excited to build community, to see God in all the beautiful details of a culture unfamiliar to us, and to watch the Holy Spirit move in awesome ways!
Is there a particular message you cannot wait to share with those you will serve?
We are excited to share the healing power of Christ, and to spread the Good News that God is a good Father and a promise keeper!
How has a relationship with Jesus and/or the Church radically changed your life?
We are nothing without Jesus! All we have was given by Him! And we are ever hopeful, because of Him!
Is there a missionary who has had a particular impact on your life? What about them inspired you?
Fr. Malachi, a missionary priest with the CFRs and friend, inspired us with his docility to the Holy Spirit in going wherever he is sent and being a mighty mouthpiece for the Lord. He is an inspiration to be bold and radiate God’s love to all we encounter.
Your family motto to live by?
Seek out whatever is true, good, and beautiful, in all settings and circumstances.
Is there a book, podcast, or hobby that you’ve been excited about recently?
Delving into Church Documents and getting to grow in knowledge of the faith has us both pretty excited at the moment! We are also loving learning more about Louisiana’s flora and fauna as a family. The kids are catching lots of frogs, not toads, but frogs!
Before being a missionary with FMC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
We were caretakers for a ranch in Texas that was run by a hermit priest. It was a pivotal time in our faith walk and chock full of interesting experiences.
Who is your hero? Favorite saint?
Jesus is our hero! Haha, oh man, it is hard to choose just one favorite saint as! We’ve had a longstanding devotion to St. Thérèse of Lisieux as a family.
The Cisneros Family
from Appleton, Wisconsin
Marcos and Jessie, Joaquin (4), Miriam (2), Monserrat (8 months)
We were both missionaries before as singles (Jessie and Marcos) and we felt called to do mission work in the future as a family. So we have been called, once again to step out in the field—this time with our family.
What about the missionary vocation excites you the most?
The chance to share how God has changed our lives and walk with others whose lives can be changed by Christ. The chance to grow and learn to rely completely on the Lord and His providence in the face of new challenges. The opportunity to have our kids experience life in another country and get to know other people and cultures and ways of life.
Is there a particular message you cannot wait to share with those you will serve?
God loves them infinitely and wants a personal relationship with them.
How has a relationship with Jesus and/or the Church radically changed your life?
Every step of the way He shows us more of His love for us and more of our need for Him.
Is there a missionary who has had a particular impact on your life? What about them inspired you?
Marcos: My parents—because everywhere we went they were missionaries without realizing it.
Is there a book, podcast, or hobby that you’ve been excited about recently?
Marcos: books on Church history and the Church fathers.
Jessie: 500 Seconds to Joy podcast
