The Lord is Always with Us
Missionary Anna Biewer shares a prayerful reflection she had at a chapel in Sinchi Warmi, Ecuador. This chapel was built by the family of Ecuadorian missionary Miguel Alvarado and his brother Wellington (Anna’s fiancé), who works with our missionaries in Peru.
I sit in distraction in prayer, wanting to focus on the Lord, but my mind desires to look anywhere but Him. I try to refocus. I love You, Lord.
I sit with You in this because I know You’ve allowed it. I need not fear – You are near. You will speak when You desire to. I do not need to force it – if there is something You desire to say, You will.
You can give me the grace I need in the distractions, but if they keep coming, I can calmly look back at You and offer them to You. You are with me in the distractions.
You are above me, behind me, holding me, loving me, strengthening me. You are the light in the darkness, and nothing will overwhelm or overcome Your love for me. That doesn’t change based on me – You are the same, and You love me more than I can ever imagine in this life.
Your love is overwhelming me even when I don’t feel overwhelmed by Your love.
Holy Spirit, lead us all closer to Jesus no matter if we feel Him close or not.
