There and Back Again
Let us set the stage: Mary Geerling, 15, came up with the concept of this play, and it was enhanced by the entire 17-member cast. It was a team effort, rehearsing and collaborating on on the script as they went along. The play was performed on June 3 in the Community House at Big Woods Mission. “We couldn’t have done it without God,” says Mary, “as we prepared, practiced, and set up the whole play over the course of a week.”
Fifteen-year-old Princess Margaret lives in a beautiful castle in the kingdom of Darkborn, but she suffered much loss. Her older sister disappeared when she was twelve, and her father passed away a year after. One day, Margaret’s mother, Queen Helene, travels to visit her sister who is sick, but on her way, she gets kidnapped. Princess Margaret receives a message that
her mother has been kidnapped and that the queen will be released if a ransom is paid. Princess Margaret, along with her care-taker, Lady Willow, venture to the place that the kidnappers foolishly revealed.
On the first night of their travels, they stop at a house where to two sisters are being visited by their friend Lydia, whose family owns an inn. They all spend the night together along with Margaret’s sword fighting trainer, Dorothy, and her best friend, Cecilia, who caught up to their group with the ransom for the queen. The next morning, they all set off to hand over the ransom, but are robbed by a group of bandits. The thieves steal the ransom, so the princess and her companions are back to where they began. That night, they all stay at the inn Lydia’s family owns.
In the morning, the group finds Sirs Kevin and Joseph, who were guarding the queen before she was kidnapped. They too were on a quest to find the lost queen. They join forces and rescue Queen Helene, with the help of Lydia’s sister, Sarah. In the end, Cecilia reveals herself as Princess Margaret’s long-lost sister.
