Frank Summers: A Life Dedicated to Jesus
Frank Summers, co-founder of Family Missions Company, has gone to his eternal reward.
Family Missions Company (FMC) announces with a heavy heart the passing of its co-founder Frank Wynerth Summers II on September 11, 2022. Frank was a passionate missionary for Jesus Christ and a tireless advocate for the poor in southern Louisiana and around the world.
Frank and Genie, his wife of 59 years, founded Family Missions Company in 1997, after spending over two decades living among the poor on mission in Tonga, the Bahamas, American Samoa, the Philippines, and Mexico.
Frank believed that the Great Commission to make disciples was an invitation and duty for all baptized Catholics. He and Genie founded FMC to share their real-world experience through an ongoing, sustainable program of missionary formation open to all lay Catholics.
Over the last 25 years, FMC has trained hundreds of families and single lay missionaries and commissioned them to serve the poor and preach the Gospel in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Please share your condolences, words or gratitude, or memories in the comments.
Thank you, Mr. Frank, for your YES to the Lord!
I met Frank at FMC in 2015 at a come and see, and he was so welcoming and friendly, so filled with the love of Jesus! I did not continue with FMC, but that same year I went to a mission in the Philippines…and I am still there!!! Thank you, Mr. Frank for your witness, your bravery, your love of Jesus and your hospitality!! I am sure the angels are greeting you as warmly as you did to all those who stopped for a while at FMC!
We convey our deepest condolences to FMC for the demise of the gallant soldier of God. Will miss him but shall always live with him in spirit. RIP.
Our prayers and thoughts are with all of the family at this time. Thank you Frank for saying yes to God and serving him so faithful.
Dear Genie, family and members of FMC,
I am saddened by the news of Frank’s passing. I consider Frank a friend and brother who answered a call in the vineyard of the Lord that involved his entire family. Emptying one’s life in the service of others is a great commitment but it’s also a grace and a joy. May God comfort you in your grief and reward Frank with eternal life. RIP.
I had the honor and privilege to meet Mr. Summers, a true servant of our Lord and a child of God. He did God’s work here on this world, and now I know he is enjoying his treasures stored in Heaven.
Thanks so much Frank. I had amazing experiences under your teaching & care. Rest now.
Thank you Summers Family for all that you do. Deepest condolences.Such a privilege to have meet you. Keeping you all close in prayer.

Genie,
Pati and I send our sincere condolences to you and your family. We met in Tonga where Pati and I were Peace Corps Volunteers (1973-1975) and you and Frank were missionaries. We have fond memories of our Bible studies and just getting to know you as wonderful friends. May God wrap His arms around you and fill you with peace, comfort and strength.

Frank will be remembered by many of us in Singapore for the examples he showed and the message he brought when the Summers Family visited over a decade ago. To us, Frank and all at Family Missions Company are living modern day saints.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. (2 Tim 4:7-8)
Our prayers are with Genie and the Summers family and friends as we grieve Frank’s passing from this world to his home with the Father. We are blessed to have been friends and fellow travelers on the journey.
May he inherit the Kingdom prepared for him from the creation of the world. Matt 25:34.
